Hello 07728! Who is ready for the holiday season? I sure am! I love this time of year as family and friends get to gather, there is a chance for the first snow and the joy on faces as presents are opened! I am excited for you to check out our Holiday edition magazine dedicated to the lifestyle and community of Freehold.

We start our issue with Lue’s Brews, which was created by Freehold Township teen Lucas Salzman. For his birthday this year, he got a present he didn’t expect: A job. “My mom used to own a café where she sold many things, but my favorites were the drinks. Thus, I created a line of beverages.” For his drinks, he was on the hunt for a company that could make him something with more integrity: natural cane sugar, no caffeine, and high-quality natural flavors, all mixed in small batches by hand. After doing a lot of research and tasting many sodas, he finally found a factory that checked off all of these boxes. Thus, Lue’s Brew was born. Learn more about this young entrepreneur starting on page 6.

Next up, we take a look at the Freehold Public Library at 28 ½ East Main Street, which just reopened after 22 months of renovations. Now that the 1904 “classic Carnegie Library” has reopened, Library director Kathy Mulholland cannot contain her excitement. She has worked at the library for 18 years and was a patron of the library when her kids were growing up in the 1980s. She came in as a senior library assistant, which functioned as a children’s librarian. “It’s a lot of positive direction,” she said of the changes. “… It’s almost like putting in a brand new library, in terms of building our constituency back and learning a whole new generation of children. “We want to be what we’re supposed to be – everything for everybody.” Learn all about the history and renovations on page 14.

Also included in our Holiday edition magazine: Downtown Freehold shares Holiday Happenings on page 8; a holiday shopping guide to help jumpstart the shopping season on page 10; Following Freehold for future community events on page 18 and hear what our neighbors have to say when asked “What is your favorite holiday movie?” on page 2.

All of this and more awaits on the pages ahead!

Enjoy!
