Thursday, July 23, August 6, and August 13, 4 – 5 p.m. Storytime at Metuchen Municipal Pool. 50 Lake Ave. For children up to age 6. Meet Ms. Joanne in the baby pool area for summertime stories and surprises! Please bring an extra towel to sit on.

Thursday July 30, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. Howling Wolf Farms Visit. Join us for a super special event: a visit from the (actual)(live)(super fluffy and cute) wolves of Howling Wolf Farms! Yes, there will be real (not mean) wolves in the library, and their handlers will talk to us about wolves and conservation. Registration is ABSOLUTELY UNABASHEDLY REQUIRED for this event. This is for the safety of the wolves! PLEASE REGISTER–your name will be checked at the door. Space is limited. This event is for all-ages! Yes, you will be able to pet them!

Friday, July 31, 2 p.m. Adventure Film Showcase: The Land Before Time (2007). Watch a series of immersive-experience adventure films in our upstairs community room! Refreshments will be served. The Land Before Time (2007) is PG-Y and has a runtime of 24min. This viewing is for all our Littlefoots! We’ll have a campout and watch two episodes of The Land Before Time TV show, with a break in-between. The further adventures of Littlefoot and his friends learning about the world of dinosaurs.

Saturday, August 8, 2 – 3 p.m. Classical Piano Recital. Join us for “Stories Without Words,” an enchanting solo recital featuring pianist TianYi Li. From the iconic “Pathétique” Sonata by Ludwig van Beethoven to Li-san Wang’s depictions of Chinese sceneries, culminating in Franz Liszt’s exploration of heaven and hell in the Fantasia quasi sonata, this piano recital explores the  possibilities of storytelling with music.

Dr. TianYi Li is an award-winning pianist. He earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Piano from the Juilliard School in 2025 with a dissertation examining historical solo piano transcriptions of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 5. He also holds a Master of Music in Piano from Juilliard and a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from New York University. This is a free concert. All are welcome. Registration encouraged.

Saturday, October 3, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Friends of the Metuchen Library Annual Book Sale. Save the date for the Friends of the Metuchen Library’s annual Book Sale! The sale will be held inside the library. More info to come!

Thursday, July 16, 6 p.m. Parkstock Outdoor Concert Series. Donaldson County Park, 526 S. 2nd Ave, Highland Park. A FREE concert featuring Roadside Graves (Folk/Rock/Americana).

Metuchen, NJ-based band Roadside Graves is nearly two decades old, with supporters who have lovingly referred to them as “underrated” & “underappreciated.” They have performed at the Red Rocks in Colorado, weddings, and a variety of venues throughout the country, delivering a turbulent mix of Americana, folk, and indie music. Their music has also been featured in a movie and a few TV shows. *Rain date is Thursday, July 23rd.

Wednesday, July 22, 7 – 9 p.m. Battle of the Decades: 80s vs 90s. Metuchen Town Plaza, 1 Pearl Street. Battle of the Decades as Twisted Charm’s 80s clashes with Saved by the 90s! Hosted by Impractical Jokers star James “Murr” Murray. Thank you to RWJ Barnabas Health for sponsoring the Concert Series.Meximodo will be serving cocktails for purchase. The event is free, but registration is REQUIRED. (Reserve a spot through Eventbrite.) 

Drinks and food available for purchase on the Plaza.. Sealed, clear, disposable water bottles are allowed this year, but no canisters and no outside alcohol.For the safety of all attendees, backpacks will not be permitted. Small bags are ok but are subject to search. No smoking. We encourage parking at the deck attached to the Plaza. This is a standing/dancing event. If you have mobility challenges, you can bring a chair BUT you MUST email dawn@downtownmetuchen.org to be added to the list on or before 7/22.

Friday, August 28, 7:30 p.m. Seth Adam. The Hang Out and Parlor at Hailey’s, 15 Station Place. Free admission. Delivering heartfelt originals alongside an inspired selection of covers, Seth Adam brings an entertaining, engaging solo performance to stages everywhere. “Taking nods from vintage radio and Americana, Seth douses that with the fuel of rock and the penchant for classic alternative.
