Joy, Wellbeing, and 25 Years of Salon 14 North

Date:

On November 1, 2025 a staple in the Philadelphia beauty community, Salon 14 North, celebrated their 25th anniversary of business. There was champagne and finger foods, people and laughter. The community and staff got together to clink glasses over this momentous quarter-century feat for the place that has brought them so much joy over time. Russ Razzi owns this glorious hair salon alongside Tammy Razzi with their trusted team including Felicia Dipaola, Stephanie Blithe, Bridget Hall, Lex Celi, and Jazzmyn Rivera. “The place is just bricks and sticks, it’s the people who make it”, Russ Razzi reflects. Together this team thrives among trends, economic shifts, and industry changes in the salon world.

Salon 14 North is a community hub. There is no need to pretend you’re someone you’re not within the walls of this environment.“We Love making people feel at ease, comfortable, they don’t have to dress up. They can just be themselves. This is a safe place”, says Tammy Razzi, Salon Coordinator. People flock to Salon 14 North because it is a welcoming sanctuary. The sacred third place. Not really home, definitely not work, but a third exciting and calm space all at the same time. Because when you go there you know you’re about to change something about your appearance. Whether it is color or a cut (or both!), you know you will leave feeling even better about yourself than when you walked in.

It is a low key aura around Salon 14 North. Tammy Razzi chuckles as she recalls seeing one of her clients completely with a cape on grabbing a coffee at the shop down the street. Knowing there is a timer that says be back in 25 minutes to wash the color out of your hair. Tammy laughs as she says, “this happens all the time. I will see clients in their capes at the restaurant next door.” This experience is quite special. That even the energy of the salon reaches businesses in the surrounding area. Bringing everyone into the Salon 14 North community.

Voted best of Philadelphia numerous times, folks travel from distances around the tri-state area to experience Salon 14 North. Russ Razzi, Owner and Colorist/Stylist, says “People drive past many salons before they get to us. That’s the real compliment. When they choose us.” Choosing Salon 14 North may just be the best decision of your week–even month. Because what you get is not only superficial satisfaction, but a deep-rooted sense of community and wellbeing amongst a crowd of seasoned professionals doing what they absolutely love to do. Russ Razzi says, “If you’re passionate about this business, you’ll do very well.” There is so much joy amongst the staff of this salon. “We do what we do and we do it really well.” Russ Razzi states. This confidence is the key to success. Salon 14 North knows it’s something special and it shows up and meets its mark.

Some tricks of the trade coming from the minds of the professionals: if you have long hair and you want it to be long, “It depends on the texture of your hair, but the general rule of thumb, if you want it to grow, you should get it cut once every 8-12 weeks. Just trimming the ends. With long hair 2-3 haircuts a year, 4 times tops.” says Russ Razzi and he knows the business inside and out. If you have a certain style you want, both Russ and

Tammy Razzi suggest having pictures of the look you’re going for. Whether it is a red carpet picture or something you saw on Instagram, any and all images are helpful for the stylist to be able to envision your look and make it happen for you.

The Salon 14 North staff is more than just a group of hair professionals. They are the keepers of safety, courage, and reflection. Having conversations with the stylists of this salon will always uplift you. There is never a dull moment in this space because everyone loves to be there and their joy is contagious.
