Hello 08840! I cannot believe the holiday season is here. It’s like we snapped our fingers and WHAM! But I have to say, I just love this time of year! All the festivities, the family time, the food, and warm holiday spirit make me smile. And as always, we are excited for you to check out our Holiday edition magazine dedicated to the lifestyle and community of Metuchen.
We start our issue at LMNTS Dance Collective. Lauren Belasco and her sister, Morgan O’Shea, are directors and co-owners of the new studio, which opened in July. “Our goal as a new studio is to continue to grow and elevate our students as dancers and performers,” says Belasco. “We are committed to community, creativity and excellence in dance education.” Come dance on page 6.
Next we campaign for the Metuchen Public Library, which is entering its “next chapter” with exciting news with the award of $200,000 in state funding. In honor of Metuchen’s 125th anniversary, the Friends of the Metuchen Public Library set a goal to raise $125,000 for further transformative improvements to the library. Local officials and dignitaries came out for the “next chapter” announcement. Get excited on page (number).
In the middle, we have your Holiday Gift Shopping Guide. It was “Home Sweet Metuchen” for our contributor, Sarah Parr, as she grew up in the borough. Follow her nostalgic journey down memory lane on page 12.
This year marks the 10th year of sweetness with the annual Metuchen Cookie Walk. It has grown from a small neighborhood bake sale into one of Metuchen’s most beloved holiday traditions. Organized by It Takes a Borough (ITAB), a volunteer-run nonprofit that provides aid to Metuchen residents facing crises, the event has raised more than $70,000 to date. Follow the sweetness on page 14.
We round our issue at Body Mechanics Massage Therapy. Seven years ago, owner Susan Ring moved her practice into a calming space on Main Street in downtown Metuchen. She previously had larger locations in Edison. In its simplest form, solving puzzles is how she explains the work that she has been doing for 37 years as a massage therapist. Solving puzzles on page (number).
Also thumb through Metuchen on the Move for future community events on page 26 and take a look at a Winter Moscato Punch cocktail recipe for the holidays on page 2.
All of this and more awaits on the pages ahead!
