Tuesday, October 6, 6 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. American Revolution: Battle of Iron Works Hill. In December of 1776, when America was at her most desperate time, Burlington County was center stage of the American Revolution. More than 2000 Hessians were occupying northern Burlington County, and their only opposition was 600 militia who were mostly boys. Join historian Eric Orange for this intriguing talk about how consequential the events in Burlington County were to American Independence.
Friday, October 9, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. American Red Cross Blood Drive. The Pinelands Library is partnering with the American Red Cross to host a blood drive. It only takes 15 minutes of your day to save up to three lives. Appointments are preferred and can be scheduled on the Red Cross website.
Tuesday, October 27, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Spooky Stuffed Animal Sleepover. Drop off your favorite stuffed animal to the library for a spooky and Halloween-themed sleepover! We will take pictures of all the exciting adventures your stuffed animal has throughout the night. A short book with pictures will be shared with you upon pickup. Best for ages 3-9.

Thursday, October 1 thru Sunday, October 4, Tour de Pines. The Tour de Pines, sponsored by Pinelands Alliance, celebrates Pinelands Month in October. This year we offer four single-day bicycle tours of the New Jersey Pinelands. Proceeds benefit the Pinelands Alliance, a nonprofit organization working to protect the resources of New Jersey Pinelands since 1989.
Sunday, October 4, Milling Days at Kirby’s Mill. The Medford Historical Society will be demonstrating the milling process. See the water wheel, grinding stones and gears in action. Corn is the chosen grain. Once milled it can be fed to the birds and squirrels.
Saturday, October 10, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Apple Festival. The annual festival returns each year to historic Kirby’s Mill for a day filled with fall flavors and community fun. Hosted by the Medford Historical Society, the festival welcomes visitors to enjoy handmade crafters, delicious food, fresh apple cider, baked goods, famous apple butter, signature apple cider donuts made on-site, and specialty apple ice cream. Live music throughout the day makes this a memorable event for all ages.
Saturday, October 17, 8 a.m. – Noon. Free Shredding Events. The shredding event will be held at the Medford Township DPW Yard/Resident Recycling Center, 2 Commonwealth Drive, and is open to Medford Township residents only, with a limit of five boxes or bags of paper files per resident. Paper clips and staples are permitted, but plastic bags, metal binders and heavy binder clips must be removed; the Medford Sunrise Rotary is also offering free shredding at Freedom Park from 8:30 a.m. to noon that day.
Saturday, October 24, 6 p.m. Halloween Parade The Medford-Vincentown Rotary Halloween Parade brings the community together for a family-friendly celebration featuring floats, marching bands, cheerleaders, princesses, firefighters and thousands of costumed children and spectators. The one-mile parade begins at 7 p.m., with Main Street closing to traffic at 6 p.m., and travels from St. Mary of the Lakes School to Maurice and Everett Haines School.
