Hello 07728! Fall season is here! I love the colors of fall and the feel of cooler weather. Oh and who is ready for every- thing pumpkin – picking, spice latte, pie?! We are excited for you to check out our Fall edition magazine dedicated to the lifestyle and community of Freehold.

We start our issue with thrift- ing at St. Peter’s Thrift Shop on Throckmorton Street. What’s old is new again. And thanks to a positive trend influenced by social media and celebrities, thrifting is once again cool. Volunteers and adminis- trators at St. Peter’s Thrift Shop have long embraced the trend, advocating for the re-sale of high-quality, gently used items at low prices for almost 50 years. Shop on page 8.

Next we show “signs of gratitude” to those who have served our country. In July – and after two years – the borough finally rolled out its Veteran Recognition Sign program with its first five living in- ductees spanning multiple branches of the U.S. military and decades of distinguished service. The program takes advantage of the borough’s 112 streets and more than 330 signs by affixing small, custom toppers above each of the latter. Learn all about the program on page 12.

We round our Fall edition spotlight- ing Jersey Fresh at DowntownFreehold. com’s Farmers’ Market, a 20-year resource that supports small farmers and provides healthy food options to the community, ac- cording to Jeffrey Friedman, executive di- rector of DowntownFreehold.com. Open once a week through Oct. 10, the farmers’ market each year features a local farm to highlight. Go to the farmers’ market on page 15.

Be sure to check out Shop Downtown Freehold on page 6 and Downtown Free- hold’s Fall in Love with Freehold on page 20. Also thumb through Following Free- hold for future community events on page 26 and find out what our neighbors have to say – “Do you say Pork Roll or Ham?” on page 2. All of this and more awaits on the pages ahead!

Enjoy!
