There’s something special about fall in Hammonton—the changing seasons, the return to school and the renewed energy that comes with a new chapter. Our latest issue of 08037 celebrates the people and places helping the Hammonton community grow, create and connect.
Inside, we meet Hammonton High School teacher Audrey Greiss and learn about her work with students on The Blue Review, the school’s literary magazine, giving young writers and artists a place to share their voices and creativity (pg. 6). We also take a look inside The Speech Barn, exploring the work they’re doing to support communication and connection in the community (pg. 16).
We’re also pulling back the curtain on what happens behind the scenes at our schools during the summer. While students may be enjoying a break, the work never really stops—from athletes preparing for the next season and teachers researching new lessons to the marching band rehearsing long before the first notes of the school year are heard (pg. 27).
These stories are a reminder that a community’s schools are about so much more than what happens when the bell rings. They’re places where teachers, students, coaches, musicians and countless others continue to learn, prepare and create year-round.
As we settle into fall, we hope you’ll enjoy this issue and discover a few new stories, faces and places that make Hammonton such a special community.
See you for the holidays!
