Hello 08108! Spring, you are here! Who is ready to enjoy the warmer weather and spend some time outdoors?! I am excited for you to check out our Spring edition magazine dedicated to the lifestyle and community of Collingswood.

We start our issue with the Collingswood Community Theatre. The joy of performing on stage is a family affair for many members of the Collingswood Community Theatre. Generations of local families have been involved in the theater since its inception in 2002. It all started with a middle school teacher named Mary Baldwin, who directed many of the shows at both Collingswood Middle and High schools. Learn all about the family affair on page 6.

Next we meet Alex Schmeltzer. A junior at Collinswood High School, he taught himself to sew when he was 9 and his love and interest of the art of sewing and the arts in general grew from there. In fact, he sewed his own vest for Homecoming out of his grandparent’s vintage table clothes and napkins. How cool! Check his story on page 10.

Heading to The Pop Shop Café & Creamery next where memories, powerful nostalgia are making new, lasting memories. Jerry Goksun and Jennifer Vincent, a dynamic husband-and-wife team, took over ownership at the end of 2023, and the number of regular diners and partygoers continues to climb. The restaurant has been a mainstay in Collingswood for some 20 years, and the shop’s family and customers love how it continues to evolve. Come hungry on page 22.

We round our issue at Ginger Hale Dispensary, which offers a “laid back atmosphere.” “A lot of the dispensaries have a ‘medical – very bright white – feel,’” said owner Matt Hale said. “I wanted to go away from that. That’s why we have a lot of greenery and woodwork to create a relaxed and inviting environment.” Also education and experience are top priorities for Hale and his staff. Find out more on page 26.

Also check out our Expert Contributor pieces: “Keys to a Stress Free and Exceptional Renovation Process” and “The Spring Market Myth That Might Cost You Money” on page 14 and 16 respectively. Thumb through Keeping up with Collingswood for future community events on page 31 and find out what our neighbors have to say on page 2. All of this and more awaits on the pages ahead!

Enjoy!
