Hello 07728! After a sweltering summer, I’m ready for the feel of crisp air, flannels, the beauty of leaves changing color, and of course apple and pumpkin picking. And I am excited for you to check out our Fall edition magazine dedicated to the lifestyle and community of Freehold.

We start our issue with a look at Downtown Freehold, which Nolan K. Dodd calls ‘our own little slice of Americana.’ The sort of place love stories are written, a place that has had its essence captured in story telling folk songs sung across the nation by millions, thanks to our very own Bruce Springsteen. Through The Boss’ music, people across the globe have felt and celebrate what we have here. The fall season is here and Downtown Freehold offers an array of events for all ages to enjoy. Check it all out starting on Page 6.

Our Boro Bites segment features The Skillet By Sal, which has become a popular breakfast-brunch-lunch spot on Mounts Corner Drive. Owner Sal and his wife Nancy Faenza opened the spot in April 2022. “I always loved the idea of a breakfast restaurant and decided to find a location near my home in Freehold,” Sal said. “I wanted to bring a friendly and family feeling, with quality foods and excellent service, always trying to bring new ideas and food items for people to enjoy.” Of course, you have to try any of the skillets … and if you’re coming with a group, The Ultimate Tomahawk Board is a must. Bring your hunger to page 11.

We round our issue with the Freehold Township Tornado Softball organization, which eventually evolved into the Central Jersey Tornado program. In 1999, the 10U team traveled to Sterling, Va. for the PONY (Protecting Our Nation’s Youth) Fastpitch Softball National Championships. When the final out was recorded, the Tornado team could boast that they were the national champions. In August, players and coaches came together to reminisce about the 25-year anniversary of the championship year/game. Take a look back on page 16.

Also check out our Following Freehold on page 2 for future community events and the Shop, Dine, Discover, Explore Business Index that starts on page 6 for all your needs. All of this and more awaits on the pages ahead!

Enjoy!
